Large, Acoustically-Optimised Wind Tunnel
The large, acoustically-optimised wind tunnel is the fourth and largest wind tunnel in the wind tunnel centre of Deutsche WindGuard. Its design is specifically suited for acoustic and aerodynamic research and allows testing of relatively large models and even full-sized blade segments.
The characteristics of the acoustically-optimised wind tunnel are:
- Relatively large testing area cross-section
- Very high wind speeds with low turbulence
- Low noise emissions
- Specially designed and equipped test track
- Latest drive and control technique
In addition, we have developed a measurement system which determines the forces and torques of aerodynamic profiles and a special measurement technique to acoustically optimise components.
Since the acoustically-optimised wind tunnel is specially designed for the requirements of wind energy utilisation, it is possible to optimise components or models of wind turbines aerodynamically as well as acoustically at high Reynolds numbers. Even complete measurements of small wind turbines can be carried out, along with terrain simulations. Our wind tunnel centre also offers ideal conditions for your individual research and development projects.
