Deutsche WindGuard accredited as Inspection Body Type A

Wide range of services for onshore and offshore wind turbines

Varel, 2021-06-29: With the accreditation as an inspection body type A according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020:2012 for wind energy turbines, Deutsche WindGuard has strategically repositioned one of its long-standing service areas and geared it up for the future. In early June, Deutsche WindGuard Inspection GmbH, newly founded for this purpose and operating independently, received its accreditation certificate from the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS).

As one of the first companies in Germany, Deutsche WindGuard was accredited by the DAkkS as an inspection body for wind turbines back in 2010 after almost a decade of experience in this field of expertise. Since then, the company has continuously expanded its range of inspection services and now inspects a total of around 800 turbines on land and at sea every year.

For about 20 years already, Deutsche WindGuard has been offering inspections of wind turbines onshore and offshore. Now Deutsche WindGuard Inspection GmbH was accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) as a type A inspection body.

"This new classification as a type A inspection body is the logical consequence of our many years of experience and service quality," explains Jan Wallasch, Managing Director of Deutsche WindGuard Inspection, "this accreditation in accordance with an internationally valid standard certifies us and guarantees our customers maximum independence and highest quality standards."

The latest accreditation comprises the inspection of wind turbines and their components - including, for example, commissioning inspections, recurring inspections, lifetime extension inspections, endoscopic inspections of gearboxes, bearings and generators as well as inspections of hoist platforms.

"For all these tasks, we are optimally positioned with our almost 20 qualified experts," says Jan Wallasch, "most of them have been contributing their expertise to the success of our inspection body for many years. Continuous training keeps their know-how up to date with the latest technology and ensures that they are excellently prepared for the requirements of the fast-developing wind industry – onshore and offshore."
